Five Point Someone is the second book of Chetan Bhagat’s which I have read recently. His first book which I read a couple of years ago with the title - A night at the call centre, wasn’t really appealing. Therefore I pushed the author’s name and his works into the rear of my mind mentally terming them as mediocre. But all this has changed after I picked up Five Point Someone. I picked this book not out of choice but of boredom. After leafing through the first 10 to 15 pages I knew the author had my attention.
His racy writing combined with witty repartees had me glued to his book for nearly four hours. During these hours, he made me walk through the IIT corridors introduced me to his AP Mech, RAC and other lecturers and even to Sasi’s – where he had his favorite paranthas regularly along with his two close friends Alok and Ryan. The bizarre writing style delivers punches in a very Indianish way. Only an Indian can shrewdly grasp between-the-lines meaning and smile to himself. Moreover the sudden twist; with Alok jumping from the 9th floor of Insti building and Ryan’s daring escapades never fail to surprise and hold the breath of the reader.
Chetan Bhagat’s writing abilities are at the peak in this book. If you haven’t read this book yet go out and grab a copy now.
I wouldn’t know my left foot from the right one that outlandishly clumsy I turn, if someone asks me to write. But then what is life without few risks? so, I write.
